Re: FA Cup
Next round of the FA Cup tomorrow, first preliminary round. After watching Knaresborough Town see off North Allerton, now it's Liversedge V Knaresborough. I think 'sedge' will see off Knaresborough quite easily, they're in a higher league (Northern Premier League - Division one East) and their players look like a bunch of thugs but that's to be expected for a team from south Leeds. I don't think the bookies have got a market at this stage of the cup, else I would have a wager on Liversedge. Hopefully cheap beer and a feisty match!

New Jersey, my mates and I were going to do that also, seems to have fallen away. Good luck

Anstey Nomads v Skegness Town for me tomorrow.

Only downside is that you can't drink by the side of the pitch for this fixture due to being the FA Cup.

Re: FA Cup
Roeders - We were allowed to in the last round (£3.50 for a Moretti) but I guess it's how strict the club are!

Will report back - Last season was a no-go, but as you say depends on who is policing.

If you're going to see this through, NJ, you should definitely start a blog, with a mind to turning it into a book.

Let me know if you need any advice about starting one.

Re: FA Cup
Thanks Alfs, probably contact you next week about a blog. Currently in the Rose and Crown, £3.40 a pint of very palatable Pale ale! Plus a very attractive bar maid!

Re: FA Cup
Liversedge 5 - Knaresborough Town 0 - Well size certainly mattered in this encounter, Liversedge were just too strong for their opponents who found it particularly difficult to deal with their set plays. Again it was a nice little ground, a couple of small stands and a decent club house, with cheap beer, £3.20 for a pint of John Smiths. Minor celebrity watching was local MP, for Batley and Spen, Kim Leadbeater, unfortunately better known as murdered Jo Cox's sister. Can't see my local MP doing that, I doubt if she knows what football is!

Heading over to Bishops Stortford tuesday for the Hertford town v Little Oakley replay , should be a decent game after the first game Saturday .

Do Hertford not play in Hertford then?

Re: FA Cup
I feel a bit of a fraud for this round today, I'm at a wedding and just can't get out of it! My son is still going though to Runcorn Linnets v Liversedge, he's currently having a pint near the ground but it's definitely a shithole. Runcorn got over 700 at their last tie so should be a decent atmosphere. Liversedge to shade it. Not going to miss another round, I've really enjoyed it.

Norman, yes they do, but I'm wondering if their ground is flooded?

Anyone fancy us to have a long run this season?

Re: FA Cup
Back on the FA cup run, after disgracing myself by having t go to a wedding the previous round (Runcorn Linnets beat a very physical Liversedge, who had two players sent off, one got fighting with the home crowd on his way to the changing rooms so I missed a really feisty affair). Yesterday's encounter was nothing like that, Runcorn Linnets V Bamber Bridge FC. Linnets ran out 3 - 1 winners, they just had a bit more belief and attacking intent. Bamber Bridge fannied about with it at the back allowing Linnets to set up again so had very few chances. Hopefully Linnets will get drawn away tomorrow so we can visit another ground, if not I hope they draw a team that gives them a good thrashing as their supporters are a buch of winey cunts due to their close proximity to Liverpool!

Re: FA Cup
3rd Qualifying round of the FA Cup tomorrow. Going to Runcorn Linnets (again) v Gateshead of the National League North. Gateshead are full-time and two divisions above the Linnets, so it should be the end of the road for the Linnets, although stranger things have happened. Really looking forward to the match to see if the gap between the two is just too much or Runcorn can make home advantage count.

Re: FA Cup
I went to Dulwich v Bedfont a couple of weeks ago for an FA Cup qualifying round. Bedfont, who are two divisions below Dulwich, fully earned their 2-0 win.

Go on the Bedfont!

Re: FA Cup
Runcorn were narrowly defeated at home to Gateshead 2- 3. It should have been much easier for Gateshead who are full-time professional and two leagues higher, particularly with scoring early but Runcorn hung in there, went more direct which Gateshead found difficult to deal with. At the break Gateshead player manager Mike Williamson brought himself on to shore up the defence. Williamson played 150 games for Newcastle in the Prem and was infamously accused of getting himself sent off by caretaker Newcastle manager (John Carver?), vaguely remember it. He did tighten it up. Apparently he was moaning about the hostile atmosphere, which there wasn't and bricks being thrown. A few local lads may have thrown some stones at the bus on the way out but a handful of Gateshead supporters were giving it big ones in the Runcorn clubhouse, so if they were doing it on the way out after the match, the locals wouldn't be best pleased after narrowly being dumped out of the cup. Await the draw this morning, hopefully Gateshead will be away, don't really fancy going up there. Think their pitch has a running track around it, so I should sort of feel at home there!

Re: FA Cup
Continue with the 4th qualifying round FA cup run on Saturday, going to watch Marske Utd v Gateshead, who we watched in the previous round narrowly defeating Runcorn Linnets. First time it's been a sell out so glad we pre-booked. Marske defeated Chester of the National League South, 4 nil (I think), so no mugs as Chester were two leagues above, as are Gateshead. Maybe a bit of local rivalry and if Marske can be direct they should cause Gateshead a few problems. Forget the Bar codes jumping into bed with the Saudis, this is proper football and very enjoyable!
